At Uhambo Tours, we believe that travel should be accessible to everyone, and we are particulary passionate about South Africa and African overland adventure travel in Swaziland, Lesotho, Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. That's why we started our company with the goal of creating adventurous travel packages that cater to all types of travelers.
Our team is made up of experienced travel professionals who have been either booking their own travel or awesome adventures for clients over the past 20 years. The dry season between May and October are the most popular months to visit Botswana, when there is very little rain. You can expect the temperature in the dry season to reach highs of 28°C. In the wetter months of November to April, the temperature reaches 30°C which a high rainfall of up to 80mm - this season is perfect for visiting the pans, birding and seeing lots of new born baby animals.
Mozambique offers a unique mix of stunning natural beauty, rich cultural experiences, and a variety of outdoor adventures. This south-eastern African country is known for its pristine beaches, lush national parks, and vibrant cities that reflect a rich history influenced by Portuguese colonialism and diverse indigenous cultures. The coastline stretches for over 2,500 kilometres, featuring spectacular beaches like Tofo and Vilanculos, where travellers can relax, snorkel, or dive amid vibrant coral reefs teeming with marine life.

The best time to visit is during the cooler dry season from April to October. November through to March brings the more humid wet season. During the day, on the coast, you can expect highs of just over 30°C with temperatures rarely dropping below the high 20s during the day, all year-round.

The best time for a Zambian adventure is dependant on the rain. Between December and March (when you can expect highs of 30°C), many camps and lodges close as the roads become impassable. In April and May the water starts to subside with roads opening up and June to August are the peak season for safaris (highs of around 28°C). September to November are the hottest season with highs of 33°C.

ZIMBABWE

Days 1 to 4 - Arrive in George (Western Cape), where you will be staying at Fancourt Hotel & Country Club. Enjoy golf on the beautiful Fancourt estate, take day trips to Wilderness, Plettenberg Bay and Knysna, enjoy some retail therapy or just to take in the stunning scenery the area is renowned for.
Days 5 to 14 - Depart George and drive
Days 1 to 4 - Arrive in George (Western Cape), where you will be staying at Fancourt Hotel & Country Club. Enjoy golf on the beautiful Fancourt estate, take day trips to Wilderness, Plettenberg Bay and Knysna, enjoy some retail therapy or just to take in the stunning scenery the area is renowned for.
Days 5 to 14 - Depart George and drive down the coast to Cape Town, staying in a luxury apartment at the Onyx Hotel located near the V&A Waterfront. Whilst in Cape Town you can enjoy a cable car ride up Table Mountain, a boat trip to Robin Island, a day trip to Hermanus for some whale watching, pop down to see the Boulders Penguin colony in Simons town, get in a few more games of golf, maybe a day trip to the Cape Point or indulge in some wine tasting in Stellenbosh.
Days 15 to 18 - Fly from Cape Town to Hoedspruit, where you will be collected and whizzed off to your Big 5 Safari at Karongwe, Becks Safari Lodge. A typical day is spent relaxing by the pool during the day, and enjoying big 5 safari drives in open vehicles before breakfast and dinner. You could also take a day trip into the famous Kruger National Park, or visit God's window to take in the breath taking views.
Day 19 - After breakfast you will be transferred to Hoedspruit airport for your flight to Johannesburg, and onward flight home.
Day 1 to 3 – Arrive in Kasane and collect your fully kitted, camp ready 4x4 vehicle. Stock up on groceries before heading to Senyati Safari Camp. Here you can watch the elephants quench their thirst from an underground bunker and then enjoy a sunset cruise or tigerfish boat trip on the Chobe River.
Day 4 to 7 – Depart Kasane and drive to
Day 1 to 3 – Arrive in Kasane and collect your fully kitted, camp ready 4x4 vehicle. Stock up on groceries before heading to Senyati Safari Camp. Here you can watch the elephants quench their thirst from an underground bunker and then enjoy a sunset cruise or tigerfish boat trip on the Chobe River.
Day 4 to 7 – Depart Kasane and drive to Chobe National Park, where you will spend the next 3 nights in an unfenced camp either in or near the Park. The sunsets over the Chobe river are breath taking, and enjoying the tranquillity of the river whilst sipping on a sundowner makes for a perfect end to your day. An added bonus is experiencing the animals moving freely around camp.
Day 5 & 6 – Travel south towards Savuti, which is known for its predators, especially lion and hyena populations. The game continues to move freely through the camp at Savuti and it is fairly common to wake up to lion roaring near or in camp.
Day 6 to 9 – Depart Savuti and head towards Khwai – here you will spend lazy days next to the Khwai river, watching hippo defending their territory, elephants slowly moving through the water and perhaps you’ll be lucky enough to spot a leopard coming through camp.
Day 7 to 10 – Spend the next 3 nights in the Okavango Delta at either Third Bridge or Xakanaxa camps – known for birdlife, game passing right next to your tent while also indulging in a mokoro or boat ride through the canals of the Delta.
Day 11 & 12 – Head further south to the town of Maun where you will have a chance to restock your groceries, sleep in a hotel and perhaps enjoy a scenic helicopter or small aircraft flight over the Okavango Delta.
Day 13 to 15 – You are going to drive west to Nxai National Park where you will camp alongside magnificent Baobabs and salt pans.
Day 16 to 18 – Travel north back towards Kasane, stopping at Elephant Sands for 2 nights and experience camping near a natural waterhole where large amounts of elephants regularly congregate to quench their thirst.
Day 19 – After breakfast – pack up and travel back to Kasane for your flight home or your next adventure.
Day 1 & 2 - Arrive in Durban and head to Umhlanga, where you will be staying in the Beverley Hills Hotel (with direct access to the beach!). After a long journey, spend some down time enjoying one of the sun lounges by the pool, head out to explore on a Segway, or go for a walk along the promenade .
Day 3 to 5 - Depart Umhlanga and head t
Day 1 & 2 - Arrive in Durban and head to Umhlanga, where you will be staying in the Beverley Hills Hotel (with direct access to the beach!). After a long journey, spend some down time enjoying one of the sun lounges by the pool, head out to explore on a Segway, or go for a walk along the promenade .
Day 3 to 5 - Depart Umhlanga and head to the magnificent Drakensberg Mountains, where you will spend the next 3 nights at Three Tree Hill Lodge. During your time here, you can visit a local village, explore the central Drakensberg Mountains area, visit the site of the Battle of Spioenkop or just relax at the Lodge and enjoy the amazing views.
Days 6 & 7 - Depart the Drakensberg and head to the Battlefields, staying at Fugitives Drift Lodge. Time too relax, visit the onsite library (with breath taking views over the valley), the museum which contains original battle artifacts or take part in awe-inspiring guided battlefield tours to Isandlwana & Rorke's Drift, the graves of Melvill and Coghill and Blood River.
Days 8 & 9 - Departing the Battlefields, you will head off to your final destination - Thanda Private Game Reserve. Here you will enjoy two game drives a day (in open safari vehicles) in search of the Big 5, or perhaps you might want to experience the bush on foot (all with experienced field guides and trackers). You can relax at the lodge pool or enjoy a day trip to view the hippos in the St Lucia Estuary.
Day 10 - Depart Thanda Private Game Reserve and make you way to King Shaka International airport for you flight home.

After a long journey, spend some down time enjoying a cocktail whilst relaxing on one of the sun lounges by the pool or head out on a walk to the beach or to explore the private Zimbali estate
Day 1 & 2 - Arrive at King Shaka International Airport and head to Ballito, where you will be staying in The Capital Zimbali Hotel on a B&B basis. After a long journey, spend some down time enjoying a cocktail whilst relaxing on one of the sun lounges by the pool or head out on a walk to the beach or to explore the private Zimbali estate to see what birds you may spot (always exciting to add the first birds to your trip list).
Day 3 to 6 - Depart Ballito and head up the coast to St Lucia, a small town surrounded by nature and on the edge of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, where you will spend the next 4 nights at Lidiko Lodge on a B&B basis. During your time here, you will be joined by a professional guide who will take you on day trips to birding locations around the town of St Lucia, as well as in the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. The park is a UNESCO world heritage site, and one of South Africa's prime birding destinations. With a host of endemics, variety of habitats, and 530 bird species being recorded in the park, this is a birding paradise! The park is also home to a variety of antelope, buffalo, rhino, hippo and elephant! And of course, a trip to St Lucia would not be complete without a boat trip on the St Lucia Estuary, where you can spot hippo, crocodile and water birds.
Days 7 to 9 - Depart St Lucia and head into the heart of Zululand to the Babanango Game Reserve. Time to relax, in the Zulu Rock Lodge or Valley Lodge. Your stay will include 2 game drives in open safari vehicles each day (am/pm) and all meals. The game reserve covers an impressive area of over 20 000 hectares, and is a sanctuary for an incredible variety of birds, plants, insects, reptiles, and mammals – including the Big 5. You can also to some additional activities such as guided battlefield tours to Isandlwana & Rorke's Drift (not included in the itinerary cost).
Day 10 - Depart Babanango Game Reserve and make you way to King Shaka International airport for you flight home.
